    Over Personal care

Moroccan body care for the shower or hammam: beldi black soap, a kessa mitt for scrubbing, ghassoul, and nourishing oils. This is how you bring the Moroccan hammam ritual into your own bathroom.

What do you need for a hammam at home?

    • Soap: beldi black soap, the soft Moroccan soap based on olives, available in natural fragrance-free versions and with argan, eucalyptus, lavender, Aker Fassi, or blue nila. Additionally, Aleppo soap with 20% laurel oil and the 80g blue Nila soap.
    • Scrub: the kessa, a rough scrubbing mitt also known as a Moroccan washcloth, available in the classic version and in black from Najel. For a scrub with grains, there is unrefined Dead Sea salt, which you can also use as bath salt.
    • Body mask: ghassoul in chunks or ready-to-use, tabrima, a herbal mask for face and body, and white kaolin clay.
    • Oil and butter: cosmetic argan oil, black seed oil, castor oil, and shea butter to nourish your skin after scrubbing.

    How to use a kessa

A kessa works best on warm, damp skin. So, shower or bathe for a while first, apply beldi black soap, and leave it on for five to ten minutes. Rinse off and then rub your skin with the kessa using firm, long strokes, from your arms down to your legs and feet. You will see the dead skin cells start to come off naturally. Rinse afterward and apply some oil or shea butter to your skin.

You can find everything by type at sabon beldi, ghassoul, soaps, scrubs, and shower gels. For your face, take a look at facial care; you can find a towel for after the hammam at hammam towels.
