Half-glazed Moroccan Tamegroute bowl. Tamegroute is a remote village in the deep Draa Valley, south of Marrakesh. This entirely handmade pottery from the Draa River utilizes the time-honored traditions of the local ancestors. Through a unique artisanal process, Tamegroute is produced by only seven workshop families in a small village called Tamegroute and passed down from generation to generation. The unique green hues are formed using an ancient blend of natural minerals and elements that remains unchanged. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and possesses its own characteristics and textures, created once fired in the earthen ovens. Characteristic of Tamegroute are the familiar three marks that appear on every piece as a result of stacking the pottery in the ovens.
